The Ministry of Defence Notification No. DAVP 10119/11/0022/1617 for Recruitment of the Male Candidates to the Posts of Assistant Commandants in i) General Duty; ii) General Duty (Pilot) and iii) Technical Branch (Mechanical and Electrical) only for Scheduled Caste & Scheduled Tribe Candidates and iv) Pilots (CPL) (Male and Female) as Join Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (Group ‘A’ Gazetted Officers).

Online Registration in response to the Ministry of Defense (MoD) Notification for induction of the Successful Man / Woman Candidates has commenced this date being the 8th of September 2016 with the Deadline for Online Application Forms ending on the 15th of September 2016. 

The Ministry of Defence, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Services Selection Board (SSB) after detailed Scrutiny of the Applications received from the Candidates, their Performance and Marks secured in the Qualifying Examinations shall release the Call Letters / Call-Up for various Stages based Tests conducted by the Services Selection Board (SSB). The Services Selection Board (SSB) shall host Personal Interviews for the Short listed Candidates later.

The Services Selection Board (SSB) shall intimate through e-mail Id & SMS (provided by the Candidates in their Application Form) the shortlisted candidates about their Selection for the SSB Interview.

The Services Selection Board would conduct various Stages of the Tests for grant of Short Service Commission (SSC) for a period of initially 08 Years and then 10 Years and subsequently extendable up to 14 Years (08 + 02 + 04 Years) in the Indian Coast Guard Wing for the Course commencing in January 2017.

The Ministry of Defence, while Shortlisting the Applications for Call-up, shall accord Priority to the Candidates with Higher Percentage of the marks in the Bachelor Degree. The Candidates need to choose any one Branch and any one Examination Center.

(i) Engineering Degree with 55% Marks in Aggregate Or Should have passed Sections A and B Examination from the Institution of Engineers (India) in any of the discipline listed here below with 55% Marks.

(a) Engineering Branch: Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production Or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace.

(b) Electrical Branch: Electrical or Electronics or Telecommunication or Instrumentation or Instrumentation and Control or Electronics and Communication or Power Engineering or Power Electronics.


*All the above Streams of Engineering: Must be recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

The Candidates must have in possession Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination / Class 12 Passed with 60% Marks

In Aggregate and should possess Current / Valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL) issued / validated by DGCA on the Date of Submission of the Application.

Procedure for Selection:

Stage I

Shortlisting of the Candidate’s Application: 

Shortlisting shall be on the based on Higher Percentage of the Marks secured by the Candidates in the Qualifying Examination (60% or higher), which might be raised in case of the Applications from the Candidates with even higher Marks were received.    Such shortlisted Candidates shall be summoned for Aptitude Test (in English medium). The Preliminary Test shall consist of Mental Ability Test / Cognitive Aptitude Test and Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP&DT).


Stage II

Final Selection:

The candidates qualifying the above Preliminary Selection shall be called for Final Selection. The Date and Venue for the Final Selection Board (FSB) will be uploaded on Indian Coast Guard Website. The Final Selection will consist of Psychological Test (PT), Group Task (GT) and Personal Interview (Personality Test).

Phase I

would comprise Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test


The Candidates declared QUALIFIED in Phase I shall be allowed to appear in Phase II.  The candidates declared NOT QUALIFIED in the Phase I would be sent back.


Phase II

shall comprise Psychological Testing, Group Testing and Interview.  The Test shall be held over Four (04) days.

The Successful candidates shall be put to Medical Examination that would be held during 03 – 05 Days.
