Merchant Navy IMU CET Entrance Feb 2017, Form,Syllabus,Exam Dates,Apply Online:

The Indian Maritime University Notification for Admission into i) Under Graduate Courses, ii) Post Graduate Program, iii) Post Graduate Diploma Course and iv) Ph.D. Program for the Academic Year 2017 – 2018 and states in the subsequent Paragraphs. We anticipate the Indian Maritime University to shortly release an Official Communiqué in respect of admission into Non-Residential and Residential Courses i) Under Graduate Courses, ii) Post Graduate Program, iii) Post Graduate Diploma Course and iv) Ph.D. Program for the Academic Year 2017 – 18.

The Indian Maritime University , First Alert in this regard including the Results for Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMU CET) 2017 – 2018 followed by publishing of the Merit List, Ranks and Counseling Schedule (other than the Affiliated Institutions that have not been included) for Admission into different Courses.

Selection Criteria:

Admission into Under Graduate / Post Graduate / Post Graduate Diploma & Doctorate of Philosophy Courses shall be strictly in order of Merit followed by Counseling excepting the Affiliated Colleges from this Academic Session onwards.

The Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test (IMUCET) 2016 shall comprise Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions WITHOUT Negative Marking for Wrong Answers for admission into different Courses.

The Registrar / Controller of Examinations Indian Maritime University,  based on the Applicants’ respective Performance and Marks in the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test 2017 shall SHORTLIST the Candidates Shortlisted based on Indian Maritime University CET Scores shall be intimated to register for Online Counselling for Allotment of the Seats to various Programs offered at the  Indian Maritime University  Campuses followed by Verification of Original Mark-Sheets, other Certificates and Testimonials, Physical Fitness Clearance, etc.

Indian Maritime University had already officially notified from the Academic Year 2016 – 17 onwards Online Counselling have been limited to admissions in to IMU Campuses only.

The Indian Maritime University has excluded the Indian Maritime University Affiliated Institutes for the process of Online Counselling.  Hence, the Students who would clear the IMU Common Entrance Test and are keen to seek Admissions into Affiliated Institutes shall have to approach such Institutes directly for the purpose of Admission.

N.B Admissions to Diploma in Nautical Science leading to B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science) Program in the Affiliated Institutes shall remain open only to the ‘Sponsored Candidates’, i.e., the Candidates sponsored by Ship Owning or Managing Companies who qualify in Indian Maritime University CET for Under Graduate  Programs.

Candidates’ Marks in the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test 2017.  The Candidates with Sufficiently High Marks would be placed Higher on the Merit List for Counseling for Seat Allotment at the Indian Maritime University Campuses.  However, the Colleges Affiliated with the Indian Maritime University have been excluded from Counseling. Hence, the Candidates shall have to approach such Institutes directly.

The Syllabus for the Indian Maritime University CET for the 2 MBA Programs will be as follows

Quantitative Ability, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning. No Negative Marking

Candidates’ Marks in the Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test 2017.  The Candidates with Sufficiently High Marks would be placed Higher on the Merit List for Counseling for Seat Allotment at the Indian Maritime University Campuses.  However, the Colleges Affiliated with the Indian Maritime University have been excluded from Counseling. English, General Knowledge, Aptitude, Mathematics & General Engineering. No Negative Marking

Eligibility Criteria:

Age Limit (As on the Date of Admission on 1st August 2017) shall be as follows:

Un-Reserved Candidates should have attained Minimum 17 Years but must not exceed (Maximum) 25 Years of Age.  Relaxation in Upper Age Limits up to 05 Years for the Candidates belonging to Reserved Communities.

Educational Qualifications:

Under Graduate Courses Qualifying Examination
01-Year’s DNS Program leading to B.Sc. (Applied Nautical Science) at Mumbai, Chennai and Kochi Campuses.

10+2 / Equivalent – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) – 60%

Or

ii) B.Sc Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) / B.Sc (Electronics with Physics as individual

Subject in one of the Years) Marks not less than 50%.

Or

ii) B.E./B.Tech from the Indian Institute of Technology or College recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) Marks not less than 50%

Relaxation of 05% for the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

03-Year B.Sc. (Nautical Science) at Chennai and Mumbai Campuses.

10+2 / Equivalent – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM – 60% & English – 50%).

Relaxation of 05% for the Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

03-Years’ B.Sc (Maritime Science) at Mumbai

10+2/equivalent (Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics – (PCM) 60% & English – 50%).

i).The Final Examination of the 10+2 System, conducted by any recognized Central / State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE), New Delhi, etc.

ii). Intermediate or Two-Years’ Pre-University Examination (PUE) conducted by the State Recognized Board / University.

iii). Final Examination of Two-Years’ Course of the Joint Services Wing (JSW) of the National Defence Academy (NDA).

iv). General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) Level.

v).High School Certificate Examination (HSCE) of the

Cambridge University.

Or

International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.

vi) H.S.C Vocational Examination.

vii). Senior Secondary School Examination (SSSE) conducted by the National Institute of Open School (NIOS) with Minimum Five Subjects.

viii). A Diploma recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Or

A State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) of at least 03-Years’ duration.

ix). Any Public School / Board / University Examination in India

Or

in any Foreign Country Recognized as Equivalent to the 10+2 System by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).

 NB:

Those who are going to appear in the Qualifying Examination later than the 31st of May 2017 (31.05.2017) are Ineligible / Not Eligible to appear in Online CET 2017.

In case the relevant Qualifying Examination is not a Public Examination, then the Candidate must have passed Minimum One Public (Board or Pre-University) Examination at an earlier Level.

Residential Course

03-Years’  B.Sc (Ship Building & Repair) at Kochi Campus

10+2 / Equivalent – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)-50% &English-50%).  Relaxation of 5% Marks to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

04-Years’ B.Tech (Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering)* at Visakhapatnam

10+2 / Equivalent – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) – 60% & English-50%).  Relaxation of 5% Marks to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

Lateral Entry (into Second Year), Candidates with Diploma in Ship Building Technology from Goa Ship Building Institute and B.Sc. (SBR) from Indian Maritime University, Kochi

Campus are eligible.

04-Years’ B.Tech (Marine Engineering)* 10+2 / Equivalent – Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) – 60% & English-50%).  Relaxation of 5% Marks to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.
Post Graduate Program

Master in Business Administration (MBA) [Port & Shipping Management – (PSM) (02-Years) in the School of Maritime Management (SMM) at Chennai & Kochi Campuses

A bachelor’s Degree in any Discipline with minimum of 50% Marks from Recognized Universities. A Minimum of 50% Marks in English subject in 10th / 12th / Under Graduate Degree.

Note: In case of SC/ST candidates there will be a 5% Relaxation in Eligibility Marks; However, it will not apply to English Marks).

Master in Business Administration (MBA) in International Transportation & Logistics Management (2-Years) in the School of Maritime Management (Chennai, Kochi, Kolkata Campuses)

Residential Programs

M.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering (02-Years) at Visakhapatnam Campus

Graduate Engineering in Mechanical / Civil / Aeronautical / Marine / Naval Architecture or Equivalent with 60% aggregate. Relaxation of 5% to Scheduled Caste / Scheduled Tribe Candidates.

 

M.Tech In Dredging & Harbor Engineering (02-Years) at Visakhapatnam Campus
