Notification UPSC CDS Exam (1) 2017 Form,Last Date,Exam Admit Card:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) notified Recruitment Notice in respect of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2017 / (CDSE) 2017 scheduled for the 5th of February 2017 , we would like to furnish the details for the ready reference of the Combined Defence Services (CDS) Examination (I) Male and SSC Women Non-Technical Course, as hereunder:

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Online Registration shall commence on the 9th of November 2016 (09.11.2016). The Deadline of Online Registration by the Candidates closes on the 2th of December 2016 (02.12.2016).

The Union Public Service Commission shall conduct on the 05th of February 2017 (05.02.2017) the All India Online Written Examination for the candidates in various parts of India.

UPSC CDS-1 2017 e-Admit Cards / Hall Tickets

The Union Public Service Commission shall upload on the UPSC Website the e-Admission Certificates / Hall Exam Tickets Three Weeks Prior to the Commencement of the Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2017 for the Candidates for induction into Indian Military Academy, Dehradun 142nd  Course commencing in January, 2017 [including vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate (Army Wing) holders]. 2. Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala-Course commencing in January, 2017 Executive (Hydro/ General Service) (including the vacancies reserved for NCC ‘C’ Certificate-holders (Naval Wing). 3. Air Force Academy, Hyderabad (Pre-Flying) Training Course commencing in January, 2017. 4. Officers Training Academy, Chennai, 105th SSC Course (for Men) commencing in April, 2017. 5. Officers Training Academy, Chennai 19th SSC Women (Non-Technical) Course commencing in April, 2017.

Age Limits, Gender and Marital Status:

For Indian Military Academy (IMA)

Unmarried male candidates born neither earlier than 2nd of January, 1993 nor later than 1st of January, 1998 only are eligible.

For Indian Naval Academy (INA)

Unmarried Male candidates born neither earlier than the 2nd of January, 1993 nor later than the 1st of July, 1998 only are eligible.

For Air Force Academy (AFA)

The Candidate should be aged between 20 to 24 Years as on the 1st of January, 2017, (i.e. the Candidate should be born neither earlier than 2nd of January, 1993 nor later than 1st of January, 1997 (Upper Age Limit for the candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 Years,. i.e., born neither earlier than 2nd of January, 1991 nor later than the 1st of July 1997) only are eligible. Note: The Candidate below 25 Years of Age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during Training period. Married candidates above 25 years of Age are eligible to apply but during the Training Period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live out with family.

For Officers’ Training Academy (SSC Course for Men)

Male candidates (Married or unmarried) born neither earlier than the 2nd of January, 1992 nor later than the 1st of January, 1998 only are eligible.

For Officers’ Training Academy – (SSC Women Non-Technical Course)

Unmarried Women, Issueless Widows who have not remarried and are Issueless Divorcees (in possession of Divorce Documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born neither earlier than the 2nd of January, 1992 nor later than the 1st of January, 1998.

 

NOTE: Male Divorcee / Widower Candidates cannot be treated as unmarried male for the purpose of their admission in IMA / INA / AFA Courses and accordingly they are not eligible for these Courses.

Educational Qualifications:  

Indian Military Academy  and Officers’ Training Academy

Degree from a Recognized University or Equivalent

For Indian Naval Academy

Degree in Engineering from a Recognized University / Institution

For Air Force Academy

Degree of a Recognized University (with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 Level) or Bachelor of Engineering (BE).

Graduates with First Choice as Army/Navy/Air Force are to submit the proof of Graduation Provisional Certificates on the date of commencement of the SSB Interview at the SSB.

 

The Candidates, who are studying in the Final Year/Semester Degree course and have yet to pass the Final Year Degree Examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog up to the Last Semester / Year for which results have been declared up to the time of submission of application and they will be required to submit the proof of passing the Degree Examination at the time of SSB to reach the Army.

UPSC Combined Defence Services-1 Exam Pattern & Syllabus 2017

The Union Public Service Commission shall conduct the Two Stages of Test for selection of the Candidates; i.e., Written Test for Admission into (a) Indian Military Academy, Indian Naval Academy, Air Force Academy and (b) Officers Training Academy as hereunder:

Penalty for Wrong Answers:

There will be Penalty for Wrong Answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers mentioned with Each Test Booklet containing the Objective-Type Multiple Choice Questions in English and Hindi Languages as hereunder:

  1. There are four alternatives for the answer to every Objective Type Question printed on the Optical Markup Reader (OMR) Sheet. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, One-third of the Marks assigned to that Question will be deducted as penalty.
  2. If a candidate gives more than one answer, it will be treated as a wrong answer, even if one of the given answers happens to be correct, yet there will be the same penalty to that question.
  3. If a question is left point blank by the candidate, i.e., no answer is given by him / her, then there will be no penalty for that question.

Final Selection of the Candidates shall be based on the All India Merit List drawn up on the basis of the Sufficient High Marks secured both in Part I consisting of the Written Test and Part II having Personal Interview / Personality Test.

Scheme of the Online Written Examination for Combined Defence Services Examination (I) 2017:

The Union Public Service Commission shall select the Candidates through conducting Two Stages of Examination; i.e., Written Test and the Intelligence and Personality Test, as hereunder:

Intelligence and Personality Test:

The SSB Procedure consists of two stage Selection process – Stage I and Stage II. Only those candidates who clear the Stage-I are permitted to appear for Stage II. The details are:

  1. Stage I comprises Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Tests are Picture Perception *Description Test (PP&DT). The candidates will be shortlisted based on combination of performance in QIR Test and PP and DT.
  2. Stage II comprises Interview, Group Testing Officer Tasks, Psychology Tests and the Conference. These tests are conducted over Four (04) days. The details of these tests are given on the Indian Army (Join Indian Army) Website.
Phase I

would comprise Intelligence Test, Picture Perception and Discussion Test

The Candidates declared QUALIFIED in Phase I shall be allowed to appear in Phase II.  The candidates declared NOT QUALIFIED in the Phase I would be sent back.

Phase II

shall comprise Psychological Testing, Group Testing and Interview.  The Test shall be held over Four (04) days.

 

The Successful candidates shall be put to Medical Examination that would be held during 03 – 05 Days.

Application Fee:

The Candidates (excepting Female / SC/ST / PH Candidates are exempted from payment of the Fee) have to pay a Fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred only) either in cash (by depositing the money) at any Branch of the State Bank of India by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India / State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur / State Bank of Hyderabad / State Bank of Mysore / State Bank of Patiala / State Bank of Travancore or by using Visa / Master Credit / Debit Card.
